Cobertura Photo (Spain), ISSP (Latvia), Officine Fotografiche Roma (Italy), and Fotofestiwal (Poland) invite 12 Europe-based photographers/visual artists to apply to take part in the HERITAGE LENS project in 2025 - 2026!
Heritage Lens presents a comprehensive approach to addressing the intersection of cultural heritage, artistic expression, and the resilience of different aspects of cultural heritage against climate change. The project aims to raise awareness about the growing impact of climate change on European cultural heritage and catalyze a collective response through artistic expression. The project uses photography to illuminate the intricate relationship between climate change and heritage, emphasizing the fundamental role of tangible and intangible elements.
The primary focus of the project is the enhancement of interdisciplinary collaborations and knowledge exchange among photographers, experts, and activists. The project will facilitate the transnational creation and circulation of artistic works through a collaborative photographic exploration by 12 emerging European photographers from diverse regions.
The project is coordinated by leading photography centers from Spain, Italy, Latvia, and Poland and is funded by the EU Creative Europe Culture programme.
Who should apply?
- Emerging photographers;
- Residents of an EU member country or other Creative - Europe-eligible country;
- Eager to develop their project within the timeline of the project, and to participate in a collaborative creative process;
- Ready to benefit from the international network, mentoring, and exposure opportunities;
- Can commit to take part in 3 in-person workshops in Spain, Latvia, and Poland;
- Submit a well-developed project idea
What do we offer?
- An opportunity to establish interdisciplinary connections;

- Grant of €1,000 per artist;
- Participation in three interdisciplinary workshops in Spain, Latvia and Portugal;
- Participation in an exhibition at Fotofestiwal 2026 in Lodz (Poland) and in exhibition/s in other partner countries;

We invite image submissions for the inclusion in the ISSP yearly Agenda 2024! Our favorite daily companion will traditionally combine the functions of a weekly planner, a bullet journal and a notebook and will be released in November. Theme of the year - Ritual. The Agenda will feature 25 selected images selected via this open call. We are looking for strong single images layered in meaning, both black and white and color. Sestdien, 9. septembrī, no plkst. 18.30 līdz plkst. 23.00 mūsdienu kultūras foruma “Baltā nakts” ietvaros ISSP Galerijā notiks somu mākslinieku Pasi Autio un Saku Koistinena līdzdalības performance “Putnu disko”, kurā apmeklētāji aicināti nodoties dejām putnu dziesmu mūzikas pavadījumā. Pasākumā tiks integrētas latviešu ilustratores un animatores Viviannas Marias Staņislavskas veidotās vizualizācijas. Ieeja bez maksas.
No 15. septembra līdz 16. novembrim ISSP Galerijā būs skatāma Arņa Balčus izstāde “Scēna”, kas pievēršas šodienas jauniešu alternatīvajai subkultūrai. Izstādes atklāšana notiks 14. septembrī plkst. 18.00 ar trīs panku grupu – “ŠŅK”, “Defekts” un “Depustūtes” – koncertu.
From 15 September to 16 November, the ISSP Gallery will host the exhibition Scene by photographer Arnis Balčus. The exhibition focuses on today's youth alternative subculture. The exhibition will open on 14 September at 6 PM with a concert by three punk bands: ŠŅK, Defekts and Depustūtes.
In cooperation with Sustainability foundation and Media Hub Riga, we are glad to invite applications for a fully funded residency for two photographers / photojournalists from Ukraine. During the time period November 2023 and January 2024, the residency will offer a possibility to take due time and space to implement an artistic project, work on a personal archive and to explore local photography and culture scene in Riga. Applications are welcome till 4 September 2023!
Rīgas vasaras kultūras programmas ietvaros no 15. līdz 20. augustam katram Rīgas iedzīvotājam un viesim būs iespēja iepazīt fotoaparāta uzbūves principus interaktīvā vides objektā "Melnais kubs – Camera Obscura" Ziedoņdārzā. Paralēli vides objektam notiks analogās fotogrāfijas meistardarbnīcas. Aicināti piedalīties gan lieli, gan mazi interesenti!
Šīs vasaras pēdējā ISSP Radošā meistarklase – "Apzināts radošums. Fotogrāfija kā klātesamības prakse” ar mākslinieci Ivetu Gabaliņu – notiks 25.-27. augustā Līču skolā. Meistarklases laikā dalībniekiem būs iepsēja attīstīt savu radošo domāšanu un potenciālu, izmantojot fotogrāfijā balstītus pašizziņas rīkus un uzdevumus. Vēl ir dažas brīvas vietas!

No 21. jūlija līdz 7. septembrim ISSP Galerijā is skatāma jauno mediju mākslinieka Jurģa Petera personālizstāde “Sintētiskā klātbūtne”, kas aplūko cilvēka un tehnoloģiju attiecību mijiedarbi, reflektējot par ticību mākslīgā intelekta spējai glābt cilvēci un pasauli. Izstādes atklāšana notiks 20. jūlijā plkst. 18.00.
From July 21 to September 7, the ISSP Gallery will host the solo exhibition Synthetic Presence by new media artist Jurģis Peters, which explores the interaction between humans and technology, reflecting on the belief in the ability of artificial intelligence to save humanity and the world. The exhibition will open on July 20 at 6 PM.
Līdz 31. jūlijam pagarināta pieteikšanās ISSP Skolas neformālās izglītības divu gadu programmas “Attīstot fotogrāfijas valodu” 2023./2025. gada kursam! “Attīstot fotogrāfijas valodu” ir vadošā praksē balstītā laikmetīgās fotogrāfijas izglītības programma Latvijā, kas piedāvā radošu un kritisku vidi, kurā attīstīt savu vizuālo valodu un rokrakstu fotogrāfijā. Programma sniedz priekšstatu par laikmetīgās fotogrāfijas norisēm Latvijā un starptautiski, iepazīstina ar medija vēsturi un teoriju, kā arī sniedz izpratni par fotogrāfijas plašajām iespējām un izaicinājumiem.
