Cobertura Photo (Spain), ISSP (Latvia), Officine Fotografiche Roma (Italy), and Fotofestiwal (Poland) invite 12 Europe-based photographers/visual artists to apply to take part in the HERITAGE LENS project in 2025 - 2026!
Heritage Lens presents a comprehensive approach to addressing the intersection of cultural heritage, artistic expression, and the resilience of different aspects of cultural heritage against climate change. The project aims to raise awareness about the growing impact of climate change on European cultural heritage and catalyze a collective response through artistic expression. The project uses photography to illuminate the intricate relationship between climate change and heritage, emphasizing the fundamental role of tangible and intangible elements.
The primary focus of the project is the enhancement of interdisciplinary collaborations and knowledge exchange among photographers, experts, and activists. The project will facilitate the transnational creation and circulation of artistic works through a collaborative photographic exploration by 12 emerging European photographers from diverse regions.
The project is coordinated by leading photography centers from Spain, Italy, Latvia, and Poland and is funded by the EU Creative Europe Culture programme.
Who should apply?
- Emerging photographers;
- Residents of an EU member country or other Creative - Europe-eligible country;
- Eager to develop their project within the timeline of the project, and to participate in a collaborative creative process;
- Ready to benefit from the international network, mentoring, and exposure opportunities;
- Can commit to take part in 3 in-person workshops in Spain, Latvia, and Poland;
- Submit a well-developed project idea
What do we offer?
- An opportunity to establish interdisciplinary connections;
- Development of a strong project mentored by a group of international professionals;
- Grant of €1,000 per artist;
- Participation in three interdisciplinary workshops in Spain, Latvia and Portugal;
- Participation in an exhibition at Fotofestiwal 2026 in Lodz (Poland) and in exhibition/s in other partner countries;
- Work featured in Heritage Lens publications online and offline

On Saturday, September 17 the ISSP Gallery will host an unusual dog photo studio. From 12.00 - 16.00, visitors will have the opportunity to meet Bjargey Ólafsdóttir, the artist behind the exhibition "Rófurass. The Dog Within" and receive a portrait of their pet. Welcome!
No 13. septembra atsāksies iknedēļas radošās fotogrāfijas nodarbības jauniešiem (vecuma grupas 11-14 un 15-18 g.v.). ISSP Jauniešu skola piedāvā pusaudžiem interaktīvā un mūsdienīgā veidā iepazīt fotogrāfiju un tās plašos izmantošanas veidus, kā arī apgūt attēlu veidošanas pamatprasmes.
7. septembrī plkst. 16.00 - 19.00 aicinām uz Atvērto durvju dienu - ar iespēju piedalīties radošajās darbnīcās un iepazīties ar programmas pasniedzējām Adelīnu Kalniņu un Līvu Veiguru!
Uzmanību! Atvērta pieteikšanās ISSP Skolas intensīvajam divu mēnešu kursam "Ievads fotogrāfijā", kas paredzēts dalībniekiem bez (vai ar nelielām) priekšzināšanām. Tā ir iespēja spert pirmos soļus fotogrāfijas pasaules izzināšanā, izprast attēlu veidošanas principus un iemācīties radīt labākas fotogrāfijas. Kursa ietvaros dalibnieki iepazīstās ar kameras tehniskām iespējām, kā arī mācās pielietot jauniegūtās zināšanas, veidojot nelielu fotosēriju. Kursa sākums - no 13. oktobra!
On Friday, September 9 at 6:30 p.m at the ISSP Gallery, the discussion How to prevent the sea from overeating? will bring together four people with close ties to the sea: artist Kristina Ollek, WWF Latvia Baltic Sea and Freshwater programme manager Magda Jentgena, Latvian Institute of Aquatic Ecology researcher Solvita Strāķe and journalist Eva Johansone.
The discussion is taking place as part of Estonian artist Kristina Õllek's ISSP Gallery solo exhibition Filtering With Cyanobacteria, Double Binds & Other Blooms (open until September 9). In it, she is focusing on cyanobacteria and the Baltic Sea, which is one of the most polluted and human-affected seas in the world.

Kristina Õllek’s solo exhibition Filtering With Cyanobacteria, Double Binds & Other Blooms at the ISSP Gallery (15.07–09.09.2022) is a continuation of her ongoing project Filter Feeders, Double Binds & Other Silicones, based on personal observations and research around anthropocentric influences on marine ecology. Opening on July 14 at 18.00 - welcome!
Happening on 16-17 July, the photography workshop Vanities led by artist Cristina Molina will cite the tradition of Dutch Vanitas painting in the 16th century in which symbolic elements were depicted to remind the viewer of the fleeting nature of life.
16. - 17. jūlijā notiks mākslinieces Kristīnas Molīnas vadīta fotodarbnīcā “Iedomības”. Tā atsaucas uz 16. gadsimta holandiešu vanitas glezniecības tradīciju, kurā tika attēloti simboliski elementi, lai atgādinātu skatītājam par dzīves pārejošo dabu.
Palikušas tikai dažas dienas, lai apskatītu ISSP Skolas 2022. gada absolventu izstādi “Zem ādas” Elizabetes ielā 87! Ceturtdien, 30. jūnijā, aicinām uz finisāžu, izstādes tūri ar māksliniekiem un izstādes darbu silent auction, kur būs iespēja iegādāties darbus Ziemeļeiropiešu mentalitātei piemērotā formātā. Pirmā ISSP vasaras fotogrāfijas nometne tiek veidota kā radošs un izglītojošs piedzīvojums pusaudžiem vecumā no 11 līdz 14 gadiem. Tā piedāvās interaktīvas un izglītojošas aktivitātes, kas raisa interesi par laikmetīgo fotogrāfiju un mākslu, attīstīs radošumu, kritiskās analīzes spējas un izteiksmes brīvību.
No 14. jūnija līdz 19. jūnijam ISSP Galerija piedalās prestižajā mākslas mesē “Photo Basel”, kas norisinās Bāzelē, Šveicē, iepazīstinot apmeklētājus ar Alņa Stakles, Kriša Salmaņa un Sergeja Melnitčenko darbiem.
