HeritageLens: Visual Narratives on Cultural Heritage challenges and resilience against Climate Change
November 2024 – October 2026

In November 2024, together with three other photography centers from around Europe, we have launched a new two-year EU-funded cooperation project: "HeritageLens: Visual Narratives on Cultural Heritage challenges and resilience against Climate Change".

The aim of the project is to raise awareness about the impact of climate change on European cultural heritage through artistic expression, by employing the lens of photography. Through a transnational collaboration involving 12 photographers from around Europe, as well as experts, and activists, HeritageLens seeks to facilitate the creation and dissemination of artistic works that raise awareness on this issue.

The project will produce a transnational photographic exploration that captures the diverse impacts of climate change on cultural heritage, fostering a visual narrative transcending national boundaries. It will encourage knowledge exchange among photographers, experts, and activists on cultural heritage and climate change.

Three transnational interdisciplinary workshops will take place in Spain, Latvia and Poland, that will enhance interdisciplinary collaborations and knowledge exchange between photographers, experts, and activists on climate change and cultural heritage.

The results will be showcased in an exhibition in the four partner countries and beyond, as well as a digital publication, which will cultivate a sense of responsibility toward climate action and cultural heritage preservation.

Project partners: Cobertura Photo in Seville, Spain, Officine Fotografiche in Rome, Italy,  Fotofestiwal in Lodz, Poland, and ISSP in Latvia.

The project is supported by EU Creative Europe Culture Programme.
