On October 9 at 6.30 PM a meeting with ISSP Riga Residency artists Fernando Criollo (Peru), Néha Hirve (Sweden), and a guest from Rucka Residency in Cēsis Senna Kabalt (The Netherlands) will take place at the ISSP Gallery, Riga.

Fernando Kriollo
Fernando aizrauj attēlu spēja nojaukt robežas starp cilvēku un pārdabisko, atstājot vietu diskusijai. Viņš ieguvis maģistra grādu fotogrāfijā Centro de la Imagen Limā, Peru.
Pašlaik Fernando strādā pie vizuāliem projektiem, kas saistīti ar rituālu un vēsturisko vardarbību. 2018. gadā notika fotogrāfa pirmā personālizstāde "Uku Pacha", kurai sekoja dalība Singapūras Starptautiskajā fotogrāfijas festivālā. Fernando līdzdibinājis Peru mākslinieku kolektīvu "Pariacaca", kas tiecas pārveidot un pilnveidot veidus, kādos nācija var sevi reprezentēt, pārvarēt pašu uzliktos šķēršļus un stimulēt jaunu vizuālo universu rašanos.

Neha Hirve
Stokholmā dzīvojošā Neha strādā dažādos fotogrāfijas žanros, galvenokārt pievēršoties ilgtermiņa dokumentāliem projektiem. Nehas darbu fokusā ir dzīves starpstāvokļi, kas meklējami starp izšķirošajiem mirkļiem, starp izlikšanos un realitāti, starp interpretāciju un īstenību. Ar metaforu palīdzību Neha meklē sava veida patiesību, un katrs no viņas mikrokosmiem slēpj sevī plašāku stāstu par to, ko nozīmē būt cilvēkam. Nehu īpaši interesē fotogrāfijas un arhīva materiālu kombinēšana ar citiem stāstniecības veidiem, tostarp video, skaņu un tekstu.

Senna Kabalta
Senna ir holandiešu māksliniece, kuras darbu ar fotogrāfiju nereti papildina teksts. Viņa norāda, ka, raksturojot fotografēšanas procesu, bieži tiek lietots darbības vārds "notvert", kaut arī tas vedina domāt par notvertā objekta vai parādības ieslodzīšanu. Savukārt, kad kaut kas ir notverts, tas zaudē savu brīvību. Senna daudz domā par fotogrāfijas būtību, cenšoties brīvi tvert mirkļus, tos nesagūstot. Viņas darbu tematika skar nāvi, slimību, neprātu un zaudējumu. Senna piedalījusies virknē izstāžu, no kurām nesenākās notikušas Čehijā, Ķīnā, Norvēģijā, Grieķijā un Beļģijā. Šobrīd viņa strādā Ruckas Rezidencē Cēsīs.

Fernando Criollo
Fernando is interested in the ability of images to erase the boundaries between the human and the supernatural leaving an open door for discussion. He holds a Master of Contemporary Photography from Centro de la Imagen in Lima, Peru. Fernando is currently working on visual projects related to ritual and historical violence. In 2018, he had his first solo exhibition "Uku Pacha" and participated at the International Photography Festival of Singapore. Fernando is also a co-founder of the Pariacaca Collective (Peru) which seeks to transform and evolve the ways we represent ourselves as a nation and break the self-imposed barriers, creating various kinds of visual universes.

Néha Hirve
Néha from Stockholm works in various genres of photography, mainly focusing on long-term documentary projects. Her work concerns itself with in-betweens. It lies in the space between decisive moments, performance and reality, interpretation and fact, and seeks a kind of truth via metaphors – every microcosm alludes to the larger story of what it means to be human. Néha is especially interested in using photography and the archive in conjunction with other mediums of storytelling such as film, text, and audio.

Sanne Kabalt
Sanne is a Dutch artist who works with the medium of photography, often accompanied by writing. When describing what photography does, the verb often used is "to capture" something, though, problematically, this suggests the imprisonment of the subject matter. Once something is captured, it is no longer out there, no longer free. In Kabalt’s work she is continuously rethinking photography, striving to unsettle capture. Thematically, she is engaged in the realms of illness, death, madness and loss. Her recent exhibitions were held in Lítost Gallery (Czech Republic), Institute for Provocation (Beijing), Leveld Kunstnartun (Norway), Yellow Brick (Greece) and Ithaka Festival (Belgium). Currently, she is working at Rucka Residency in Cēsis (Latvia).

Ielūdzam uz kino vakaru 23. jūlijā plkst. 19.00 ISSP telpās kontekstā ar ISSP Galerijā skatāmo izstādi “Mūsdienu fotogrāfijas vēstures II” (autori: Annemarija Gulbe un Konstantīns Žukovs)! Izstādē māksliniece Annemarija Gulbe pētījusi fotogrāfa, operatora un režisora Ulda Brauna mantojumu – fotogrāfijā, kā arī viņa vienīgajā spēlfilmā “Motociklu vasara” (1975), veidojot savu refleksiju par to un aicinot atskatīties atpakaļskata spogulī.
Valmieras vasaras teātra festivāla nedēļā laikā no 31. jūlija līdz 4. augustam Valmieras pilsētas iedzīvotājiem un viesiem būs iespēja aplūkot ISSP veidoto vides objektu “Melnais kubs - Camera Obscura”. Tiks organizētas arī pavadošās radošās meistarklases, piedāvājot apmeklētājiem mūsdienīgu un unikālu kultūrizglītojošo pieredzi.
ISSP Galerijā 4. jūlijā plkst. 18.00 Rīgas Fotogrāfijas biennāles 2024 ietvaros tiks atklāta otrā daļa divu izstāžu ciklam “Mūsdienu fotogrāfijas vēstures”, kurā atspoguļotas vairāku mākslinieku versijas un interpretācijas par vietējās fotogrāfijas vēstures rakstīšanas procesiem. Izstādē piedalās mākslinieki Annemarija Gulbe un Konstantīns Žukovs, un tā būs skatāma no 5. jūlija līdz 15. augustam.
