Fotogrāfija: Personīgā prakse un sociālā pornogrāfija.
Es aplūkošu savu personīgo praksi saistībā ar dažādiem mūsdienu fotografēšanas un stāstījuma veidošanas elementiem. Diskusija sāksies ar vuāristisku ieskatu manā personīgajā foto pieredzē, īpaši koncentrējoties uz pēdējiem projektiem. Iepazīstināšu arī ar kursu, ko pasniedzu Helsinku Mākslas universitātē. Kursa uzmanības centrā ir jautājumi par fotomateriālu sociālo un politisko diskursu. Apskatīsim dažus ar šo tēmu saistītus darbus un centīsimies saprast iemeslus, kāpēc tie tiek veidoti, kā tie ietekmē skatītājus, sabiedrības viedokli un projektā iesaistītos cilvēkus. Analizēsim stereotipiskas idejas, kas saistītas ar dokumentālismu un sociālu mākslu, un centīsimies izprast šo prakšu ierobežojumus un iespējas.
Filippo Zambons dzimis Florencē, studējis mākslas vēsturi Florences Universitātē. Strādājis kā kara fotogrāfa asistents, pēc tam pārcēlās uz Helsinkiem, kur Helsinku Mākslas universitātē studēja fotogrāfiju. Savā praksē pēta dažādu vizuālo valodu formālās un teorētiskās kombinācijas. Viņa darbi izstādīti Hasselblad centrā Gēteborgā, Somijas Fotogrāfijas muzejā Helsinkos, Benetton fondā Trevizo un citviet Eiropā. Viņa pirmā monogrāfija “Komi dienasgrāmata” 2018. gadā tika atzīta par gada labāko fotogrāmatu Somijā. Sevi raksturo kā fotogrāfu, kurš ir apsēsts ar fotogrāfiju visās tās formās.

Photography: Personal practice and social pornography.
I will discuss my personal practice in connection with different elements of the contemporary photography practice and narrative. The discussion will start with a voyeuristic insight on my personal photographic experience, focusing on my last and ongoing projects. I will also introduce elements from a course that I have been teaching at the University of Arts of Helsinki, which focused on questioning the photographic medium in connection with the social and political discourse. We will have a look at several works connected with the theme and will try to understand the reasons of making work dealing with social and political themes, the impact on the viewers, the public opinion, and the people involved in the project. We will analyse the stereotypical ideas connected with documentary and socially engaged art, to try to understand the limits and the potentials of those practices.
Filippo Zambon - born in Florence, studied Art History in the University of Florence. After working as assistant for a war photographer, he moved to Helsinki where he studied Fine Arts with major in Photography at the University of the Arts of Helsinki. His practice is focused on the research of formal and theoretical combination of different visual languages. His work has been exhibited in Hasselblad centre in Gothenburg, The Finnish Museum of Photography in Helsinki, the Benetton Foundation in Treviso, and other places in Europe. His first monograph, ”The Komi diary” was awarded in 2018 as the photobook of the year in Finland. He describes himself as "a photographer obsessed with photography in all its forms".

Come to meet our current Artists in Residence - German-raised Vietnamese photographer Lê Quyên Nguyễn, Latvian-born UK photographer Agnese Gutovska, and an artist from Los Angelos Mike Saijo! They will be talking about their work, and we will open a pop-up exhibition delving into the realities of the Vietnamese diaspora in Riga by Lê Quyên Nguyễn!

We invite you to meet our current artist in residence, photographer Theo Elias on 25 July, 19.00 at Bolderāja! Theo will speak about his work, including the project he has been developing in Latvia since 2018 when he was the first artist to take part in the ISSP Riga residency.
We are pleased to invite you to a meeting with two visual artists and educators from Adelaide, South Australia - Amber Cronin and Tom Borgas on 15th July at 7 p.m.! Ielūdzam uz kino vakaru 23. jūlijā plkst. 19.00 ISSP telpās kontekstā ar ISSP Galerijā skatāmo izstādi “Mūsdienu fotogrāfijas vēstures II” (autori: Annemarija Gulbe un Konstantīns Žukovs)! Izstādē māksliniece Annemarija Gulbe pētījusi fotogrāfa, operatora un režisora Ulda Brauna mantojumu – fotogrāfijā, kā arī viņa vienīgajā spēlfilmā “Motociklu vasara” (1975), veidojot savu refleksiju par to un aicinot atskatīties atpakaļskata spogulī.
Valmieras vasaras teātra festivāla nedēļā laikā no 31. jūlija līdz 4. augustam Valmieras pilsētas iedzīvotājiem un viesiem būs iespēja aplūkot ISSP veidoto vides objektu “Melnais kubs - Camera Obscura”. Tiks organizētas arī pavadošās radošās meistarklases, piedāvājot apmeklētājiem mūsdienīgu un unikālu kultūrizglītojošo pieredzi.
ISSP Galerijā 4. jūlijā plkst. 18.00 Rīgas Fotogrāfijas biennāles 2024 ietvaros tiks atklāta otrā daļa divu izstāžu ciklam “Mūsdienu fotogrāfijas vēstures”, kurā atspoguļotas vairāku mākslinieku versijas un interpretācijas par vietējās fotogrāfijas vēstures rakstīšanas procesiem. Izstādē piedalās mākslinieki Annemarija Gulbe un Konstantīns Žukovs, un tā būs skatāma no 5. jūlija līdz 15. augustam.
