Ziemas-pavasara semestrī ISSP Skola aicina apgūt fotogrāfiskās domāšanas pamatus un kameras tehniskās iespējas intensīvā divu mēnešu kursā “Ievads fotogrāfijā” – šobrīd atvērta pieteikšanās gan tiešsaistes, gan klātienes grupām. Kurss notiek jau ceturto gadu un to vada pieredzējuši pasniedzēji un fotogrāfi Kristīne Krauze-Slucka, Kristīne Madjare un Ingus Bajārs. Tiešsaistes kursa sākums jau 29. janvārī, bet klātienes kurss sāksies 4. aprīlī.
ISSP invites artists from the Baltics and Ukraine working within the medium of photography to apply to become a part of FUTURES, the prestigious European-based photography platform dedicated to supporting emerging talents in photography. 5 artists will be selected to join the platform in 2024. The FUTURES platform pools together the experience of leading photography institutions across Europe in order to increase the capacity, mobility and visibility of its selected artists. FUTURES' newest Annual Publication, Trigger #5: Energy, is an exploration of that question – and broadly thematizes alternative approaches to energy through photography, the issue of society’s decarbonisation, the call for repair and collective values. Wednesday, December 13, at 6 PM, Estonian curator and art critic Indrek Grigor will give a lecture titled "A Queue, Naked Women and Politics. The Story of Woman in Photographic Art, the Most Popular Photo Exhibition in Soviet Estonia". In the lecture Indrek Grigor will share the anecdotal stories about the exhibition and the queues and present the current research that tries to bring attention to the international reach of photography in the 1980s and to the peculiar role that photo clubs. This year, from 13 to 15 October, the FUTURES Photography platform's annual event was hosted by the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center in Budapest. Joining more than 100 artists, 23 curators, and heads of major international contemporary photography institutions were ISSP nominated artists Reinis Hofmanis, Zane Priede, and Jurģis Peters from Latvia, Cloe Jancis from Estonia, and Ieva Baltaduonytė from Lithuania, as well as curator Iveta Gabaliņa and Jūlija Berkoviča from ISSP.
The annual FUTURES event in 2023 is hosted by the Robert Capa Center for Contemporary Photography in Budapest. A new traveling exhibition prepared as a part of the platform’s activities will also have its first appearance in Budapest. This year, the theme of the group exhibition is “ENERGY 2023: Redistributing Power and Taming Consumption”.
