Šonedēļ, 27. maijā prestižajā Spiral mākslas centrā Tokijā tika atklāta Baltijas fotogrāfijas izstāde HUMAN BALTIC. Izstāde piedāvā humānistiskās fotogrāfijas kolekciju no trīs Baltijas valstu dārgumu krātuves no 1960. līdz 1990. gadiem, ieskaitot Latvijas fotogrāfu Andreja Granta, Aivara Liepiņa, Gvido Kajona, Gunāra Bindes, Zentas Dzividzinskas un Māras Brašmanes darbus.
Baltijas humānistiskās fotogrāfijas izstādē Japānā iekļauti vairāk nekā 120 darbi no Baltijas fotogrāfijas dārgumu krātuves, kas veidoti laika posmā no 1960. līdz 1990. gadiem. Tā laika humānistiskās fotogrāfijas prakse Baltijas valstīs pārstāvēja pastāvīgu cīņu par izteiksmes brīvību, identitāti un atmiņu. Tas noteica izstādei izvēlēto fotogrāfiju atlasi, iekļaujot gan cenzētus vai iepriekš nepublicēus attēlus, gan kritiskus, ironiskus un aktu žanra piemērus, kas padomju laikā tika aizliegti.
Izstādē iekļauta arī Baltijas ceļam veltīta interaktīva lietotne, kas aicina Tokijas iedzīvotājus iepazīt fenomenu, kas vienoja divus miljonus cilvēku. Lietotne piedāvā maršrutu ap galeriju pa Tokijas ielām un alejām, prezentējot neredzētas fotogrāfijas un retus video materiālus, kā arī vēsturiskus komentārus un jaunu mediju saturu.
Kolekciju kūrēja Dr. Agnė Narušytė (Lietuva) kopā ar Baltijas valstu kuratoriem Ivetu Gabaliņu (ISSP, Latvija) un Toomasu Järvetu un Kristelu Aimee Laur (Juhana Kūsa dokumentālās fotogrāfijas centrs, Igaunija).
Izstāde skatāma līdz 9. jūnijam Spiral Garden galerijā Tokijā.
Paralēli izstādei notiks diskusijas, kas popularizēs Baltijas fotogrāfiju Tokijas mākslas cienītāju vidū, kā arī fotogrāfu ziedotu darbu labdarības izsole, kuras ienākumi tiks veltīti Ukrainas bēgļu atbalstam Japānā.

ISSP invites all interested in Black and White analogue process and looking for lab facilities to become 2011 members of our BW Lab in Andrejsala (Riga). The ISSP 2010 Exhibition was festively opened on 7 August 2010. Visitors are welcome to view the entire collection of artistic projects of 65 participants in Ludza till 2 October 2010.
The ISSP Evening Programme at Ezersala boarding school (Ludza district) from 1st till 7th August will be traditionally open for interested visitors and guests! Detailed programme in English here.
We all try again and are looking forward to host Aaron Shuman in Riga this weekend, provided no more volcano surprises coming up. The lecture “Whatever Was Splendid: New American Photographs” will take place at kim? at 19:00 on Saturday 1 May 2010.
