Teo Eliass ir fotogrāfs no Zviedrijas, kurš 2014. gadā, Nordic School of Photography ieguvis bakalaura grādu fotožurnālismā.

Norises vieta: ISSP Galerija (Berga Bazārs, Marijas iela 13, k-3).

ISSP is happy to host an artist talk by ISSP Riga Residency artists Theo Elias (Sweden) and Hiro Tanaka (Japan) on Wednesday 6th of June 6PM at the ISSP Gallery.
Both authors are currently developing new work as a part of the ISSP Riga Residency programme. The public presentations will introduce both photographers' former and current projects, encouraging a discussion about the topics represented in their work as well as each artist's individual approach to photography and working methods.
Theo Elias is a photographer from Stockholm, Sweden. He holds a degree in Photojournalism from the Nordic School of Photography (2014). He has also worked as an assistant for Anders Petersen. His works deal with personal subjects such as memory, truth and loss. The artist's works have been shown in Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Iceland, Switzerland, Turkey and The Netherlands. The series Smoke has been shortlisted for the Kassel Dummy Award and won the 3rd prize at Gomma Grant 2018.
Hiro Tanaka was born and raised in Japan and has lived in the United States for several years. An interesting coincidence led him to start taking photographs - after accidentally winning a free trip to the US through raffles at a shopping mall in Tokyo, Tanaka started travelling with US punk bands in the United States and Europe, while documenting the tour life. Since then the artist has been taking photographs, shooting video footage and collecting English slang and phrases. He has won the ShainBook Award in France and has been selected as a finalist and shortlisted for several awards such as the Kassel Photobook Award, Kassel Dummy Award, Landskrona Foto Dummy Award, Fuam Dummy Award. Tanaka has had exhibitions in several international photo festivals.
Free entrance, the event will take place in English.
Location: ISSP Gallery (Berga Bazārs, Marijas iela 13, k-3).
