Otrdien, 16. augustā, plkst. 18.00 aicinām uz pazīstamo fotogrāfu Paolo Vudsa un Federiko Klavarino publiskām lekcijām - darbu prezentācijām. Vudss un Klavarino Latvijā viesojās, lai pasniegtu meistarklases vienpadsmitajā Starptautiskajā fotogrāfijas vasaras skolā (ISSP) Kuldīgas novadā.

Paolo Vudss (Paolo Woods) ir viens no mūsdienu dokumentālās fotogrāfijas meistariem, kas savos ilgtermiņa projektos izmanto pētnieciskās žurnālistikas pieeju. Savulaik vadījis fotogrāfijas galeriju, Vudss ir četru grāmatu autors, kurās sadarbojies ar atzītiem rakstniekiem un māksliniekiem. Pēdējais projekts "The Heavens", kuru autors veidoja kopā ar fotogrāfu Gabrielu Galimbertī, ir pirmais mēģinājums ar fotogrāfijas palīdzību attainot sarežģīto un pretrunīgo ofšoru pasauli. Projekts tika prezentēts pagājušā gada Arlas Fotofestivālā, kur tas kļuva par vienus no galvenajiem festivāla notikumiem.

Federiko Klavarino (Federico Clavarino) ir itāļu jaunās paaudzes fotogrāfs, kas kļuvis pazīstams ar savām smalkām fotoesejām par mūsdienu Dienvideiropas kultūru spozmi un postu. Klavarino izdevis trīs autogrāmatas, to skaitā "Italia o Italia", kas tika augsti novērtēta un ieguva vairākas starptautiskās balvas. Klavarino ir pasniedzējs BlankPaper fotogrāfijas skolā Madridē.

As part of the broader International Summer School of Photography 2016 programme, we invite you to the artist talks of two photographers - ISSP 2016 masters - Paolo Woods and Federico Clavarino in Riga!

Paolo Woods ran a photography gallery and a laboratory before dedicating himself to documentary photography. His long-term projects blend photography with investigative journalism. He has published four books of photography in collaboration with acclaimed writers and artists. Most recently, he has worked for three years with photographer Gabriele Galimberti on the project "The Heavens", the first photographic investigation into the workings of tax havens. The show has premiered at the Festival of Arles in France and is currently touring worldwide. The book has been selected as one of the best books of 2015.

Federico Clavarino is a photographer and teacher of photography at BlankPaper school in Madrid. His first photobook, "Ukraina Pasport", came out in 2011, receiving the PhotoEspaña Award Honourable Mention as the best photobook of 2011. In September 2014 Akina Books published his second book, "Italia o Italia", recently, in April 2016, his third book, "The Castle", was published by Dalpine.

ISSP 2011 participants selected

Good morning! The process of careful ISSP participants selection is now completed, and the list of the 60 photographers who will be offered places in Workshops 1-5 is online! Together with the Borderlines workshop, ISSP 2011 will host 72 photographers from 24 countries of the world. The list will be adjusted pending participants confirmations. We will inform all the applicants by email shortly.

Ok the ISSP applications desk is now officially closed! It looks really exciting!! 163 applications from 35 countries of the world, finally South America is on ISSP map!! :) 
The results of the selection process will be available by the beginning of June.

ISSP is moving to Kuldīga

Now, this is not a 1st April joke, its official: the ISSP international summer school is moving to Kuldīga! Though it all happened a little suddenly, we are happy with the new situation. The new location, Pelči boarding school, is 4 km away from town, so we’ll keep all the intimacy of the campus. Kuldīga is a gem and a runner up UNESCO world heritage site, it will for sure charm everyone.
Besides, we will have a real castle all for ourselves - imagine ! :)

Many, many things in process. By the end of the month, we will be ready to announce the applications for Summer School 2011. You can already find some information about 2011 workshops and teachers here. We will also have a brand - new website, and more exciting news coming up soon!

Aktuāli: ISSP BW lab

ISSP invites all interested in Black and White analogue process and looking for lab facilities to become 2011 members of our BW Lab in Andrejsala (Riga). Lab members can use fully equipped ISSP BW lab for a year - pretty much without any time limits. Full info in Latvian below. For more info, please call Arnis :)
