“Daffodil”, a book by photographer Bahadir Aksan (Turkey) has now been published. Being the winner of the SELF PUBLISH RIGA 2018 dummy contest Bahadir Aksan had the opportunity to publish his book in collaboration with Kaunas Photography Gallery, Printing house KOPA and Antalis.
“With my photographs, I try to narrate the death of youth, just like those cemetery daffodils. I want to place emphasis on ageing, on slowing down, on melancholy, isolation, and confusion, on the awareness of our own farewell – surely one of the most painful concerns – and, in contrast, also on small moments of happiness: the soul’s resistance to death,” Aksan comments his work. “Daffodil” was edited by Bahadir Aksan, Oğuz Karakütük, Gintaras Česonis and designed by Tom Mrazauskas.
More information on the shortlist and jury of the SELF PUBLISH RIGA 2018 is available here. “Daffodil” by Bahadir Aksan can be purchased on the ISSP online store and at the ISSP Gallery in Bergs Bazaar.
