Kleo Vehtere
Kleo fotogrāfija ir veids, kā izzināt pasauli sev apkārt. Viņa pēta cilvēka un vides attiecības, kā arī to, kā mēs piešķiram nozīmi ainavai. Fotogrāfi interesē sociālā ģeogrāfija un vietas, kurām bijusi loma zinātnē. Viņa strādā kā romantiska zinātniece, dzejniece, kura daiļskanīgu rindu vietā izmanto faktus. Savos iepriekšējos projektos Kleo pievērsusies antropocēnam Nīderlandē. 2016. gadā viņa saņēma Dialogue stipendiju un publicēja izdevumu “Autostop – Retracing routes”. Pērn tapa projekts “Objective Netherlands – changing landscape 1974 – 2018”. Vehtere ieguvusi bakalaura grādu dokumentālajā fotogrāfijā Hāgas Karaliskajā mākslas akadēmijā un šobrīd studē vizuālo antropoloģiju Berlīnes Brīvajā universitātē.

Demelza Vatsa
Demelza ir Londonā dzīvojoša māksliniece, kuru aizrauj ikdienišķā pētīšana, īpaši pievēršoties tam, kādu iespaidu mājas atstāj uz radošumu. Kā mājas ietekmē socializēšanos, iztēli, izklaidi, kopienu veidošanu, līdzcietību un politisko pārliecību? Kas kopīgs mājām un introversijai/ ekstraversijai? Vai tās var izmantot kā politisku instrumentu? Vatsa fokusējas uz to, kas kopīgs māksliniekam un skatītājam, kā kolāža var nojaukt robežu starp dokumentēšanu un aktīvu darbību, apvienojot attēlus, kas sapludina realitāti un fikciju, fizisko un virtuālo, iespējamo un neiespējamo.
Autorvakarā Demelza pastāstīs ne tikai par savu radošo darbību, bet arī viņas 2017. gadā dibināto starptautisko mākslinieku kolektīvu PACTO. Vatsas darbi bijuši izstādīti mākslas centros Eiropā un ASV.

Cleo Wächter
Cleo Wächter photographs to investigate the world around her. She researches the way one relates to their environment, as well as how we inscribe the landscape with meaning. She is interested in social geography and landscapes that carry scientific meaning. In her work she acts like a romantic scientist, a poet who rhymes with facts. In previous projects she has dealt with the Anthropocene within the Netherlands. In 2016 she received the Dialogue stipend and published ‘Autostop – Retracing routes’. In 2018 she published ‘Objective Netherlands – changing landscape 1974 – 2018’, a re-photography project made in collaboration with Reinjan Mulder. Wächter holds a BA in Documentary Photographer from the Royal Academy of Arts in the Hague. She is currently a MA-student in Visual Anthropology at Freie Universität Berlin. www.cleowaechter.com
Demelza Watts
Demelza Watts lives and works in London. The everyday and the familiar are essential in Watts’ practice. Her concern is how the home affects creative thought - what is the impact of the home on socialising, on imagination, on play, in making communities, on our compassion and on our political agency? What is the relationship between homes and introversion/extroversion? Can it be weaponised as a political tool? Watts’ focus lays in the common ground for the artist and the spectator, how collage can adjust the boundary between documentation and activity, editing to bring together images that blur reality and fiction, physical and virtual, possible and impossible.
Watts is a founding member of the transnational artist collective PACTO formed in 2017. Watts’ work has been shown in various art spaces in Europe and the USA, including British Library, Somerset House, ICA Baltimore, Tate Modern, CAC Vilnius, Whitechapel Gallery and others. www.demelzawatts.com

Come to meet our current Artists in Residence - German-raised Vietnamese photographer Lê Quyên Nguyễn, Latvian-born UK photographer Agnese Gutovska, and an artist from Los Angelos Mike Saijo! They will be talking about their work, and we will open a pop-up exhibition delving into the realities of the Vietnamese diaspora in Riga by Lê Quyên Nguyễn!

We invite you to meet our current artist in residence, photographer Theo Elias on 25 July, 19.00 at Bolderāja! Theo will speak about his work, including the project he has been developing in Latvia since 2018 when he was the first artist to take part in the ISSP Riga residency.

Ielūdzam uz kino vakaru 23. jūlijā plkst. 19.00 ISSP telpās kontekstā ar ISSP Galerijā skatāmo izstādi “Mūsdienu fotogrāfijas vēstures II” (autori: Annemarija Gulbe un Konstantīns Žukovs)! Izstādē māksliniece Annemarija Gulbe pētījusi fotogrāfa, operatora un režisora Ulda Brauna mantojumu – fotogrāfijā, kā arī viņa vienīgajā spēlfilmā “Motociklu vasara” (1975), veidojot savu refleksiju par to un aicinot atskatīties atpakaļskata spogulī.
Valmieras vasaras teātra festivāla nedēļā laikā no 31. jūlija līdz 4. augustam Valmieras pilsētas iedzīvotājiem un viesiem būs iespēja aplūkot ISSP veidoto vides objektu “Melnais kubs - Camera Obscura”. Tiks organizētas arī pavadošās radošās meistarklases, piedāvājot apmeklētājiem mūsdienīgu un unikālu kultūrizglītojošo pieredzi.
ISSP Galerijā 4. jūlijā plkst. 18.00 Rīgas Fotogrāfijas biennāles 2024 ietvaros tiks atklāta otrā daļa divu izstāžu ciklam “Mūsdienu fotogrāfijas vēstures”, kurā atspoguļotas vairāku mākslinieku versijas un interpretācijas par vietējās fotogrāfijas vēstures rakstīšanas procesiem. Izstādē piedalās mākslinieki Annemarija Gulbe un Konstantīns Žukovs, un tā būs skatāma no 5. jūlija līdz 15. augustam.
