Mākslinieces Kristīnes Krauzes-Sluckas izstāde “Izšķirtspējas streiks” kritiski analizē fotogrāfijas un fotogrāfisko atmiņu vērtību digitalizācijas un sociālo tīklu laikmetā. Aplūkojamās instalācijas izejmateriāla pamatā ir sasmalcinātas fotogrāfijas no Krauzes-Sluckas ģimenes albuma. Līdz ar fotogrāfiju samalšanu ģimenes atmiņas pārvēršas bezveidīgā masā, pakļaujot fotogrāfiju jaunu nozīmju meklējumiem. Mūsdienās tiek fotografēts aizvien vairāk, bet lielākā daļa radīto attēlu nonāk virtuālajā vidē, cirkulējot datu masā kā aizmirstībā. Šī digitālā laikmeta iezīme ir atstājusi nospiedumu uz cilvēku maņām, klātbūtnes izjūtu un apkārtējās vides uztveri, radot specīgu nosķirtību cilvēkvidē. 

Krauze-Slucka, aprakstot savu darba procesu, stāsta: “Te nu mēs esam, divātā ar mammu un mūsu papīra foto albumiem, atgriežamies saviesīgos notikumos, ceļojumos, dabas ainavās un cilvēku portretos, kur daļu vairs neatceras viņa, bet man tie ir sveši. Dīvainā kārtā pieķeru sevi pie domas, ka albumu pārskatīšanas process, saruna un stāsti ir nozīmīgāki par pašiem fotoattēliem.”

“Post-digitālajā laikmetā, kad attēlu pārmērīgums demonstrē atkārtošanos, blīvumu un intensitāti, bet foto kameras reproduktīvā funkcija noreducē klātbūtni līdz plakanai datu kopai, fotogrāfijas loma ir piedzīvojusi būtiskas izmaiņas. Papīra fotogrāfijas albums ir kļuvis par novecojušu formātu vizuālo atmiņu glabāšanai, un to ir aizstājuši digitālā laikmeta blakusprodukti – sociālo tīklu platformas vai, labākajā gadījumā, cietie diski. Šīs cilvēciskās atmiņas tiek transformētas neaptveramā datu masā, kas plūst cauri ierīcēm kā caurduriem, veidojot stāvošus attēlu dīķus.” apraksta izstādes kuratore Iveta Gabaliņa.

Kristīne Krauze-Slucka (1979) ir latviešu vizuālā māksliniece, kas savā mākslinieciskajā praksē aplūko un pēta cilvēka, tehnoloģijas un dabas attiecības, bieži eksperimentējot ar digitālajiem un analogajiem fotogrāfiskajiem procesiem. Pievēršot uzmanību adaptācijas un hibridizācijas norisēm, māksliniece priekšplānā izvirza izvēlētā medija materialitātes aspektus, kas balstās uz darba tapšanas procesa saturisko risinājumu. Kristīne Krauze-Slucka 2020. gadā ieguva maģistra grādu Latvijas Mākslas akadēmijas Vizuālās komunikācijas nodaļā. 2020.gadā saņēma gleznotāja Valdemāra Tones fonda stipendiju un Ziemeļvalstu un Baltijas jauno mākslinieku “Grand Prix” balvu. Kristīne Krauze-Slucka ir ieguvusi “Rīgas Fotogrāfijas biennāles – NEXT 2021” specbalvu un, sadarbībā ar Lietuvas izdevniecību “NoRoutine Books”, publicējusi savu pirmo foto grāmatu “Materiālā visuma vibrācijas. Zelta slāpes”. Darbs tiecas vizuāli atklāt citādi neredzamos draudus biosfērai, ko veicina analoga ķīmiskā procesa izmantošana.

The Latvian artist Kristīne Krauze-Slucka's exhibition Resolution Strike critically analyzes the value of photography and photographic memories in the age of digitization and social networking platforms. The exhibited installation consists of shredded photos from Krauze-Slucka's family album. As the photographs disintegrate, the family's memories turn into a shapeless mass thus subjecting photography to a search for new meanings. In today's digital age more photographs are taken than ever, yet this development has diluted the value of a single photograph, since endless amounts of images are collecting virtual dust, forgotten within a data oblivion. This hallmark of our era has left its marks on people's senses and perception of the environment, leading to a sense of alienation within the society.

Krauze-Slucka describes her working process: “Here we are, my mother and I alone with our paper photo albums, returning to social events, travels, natural landscapes and portraits of people, some of whom she no longer remembers, and to me they are completely foreign. Strangely, I find myself thinking that the process of looking through albums, the conversation, and the stories are more important than photos themselves. ”

"In the post-digital age, when excessive amounts of images lead to repetition, density and intensity, while the camera's reproductive function reduces presence to a flat data set, the role of photography has changed significantly. Paper photo albums have become an old fashioned format for storing visual memories and have eventually been replaced by the by-products of the digital age – social networking platforms, or at best – hard drives. These personal memories are transformed into an incomprehensible mass of data flowing through devices like strainers, forming stale ponds of images.” describes the curator of the exhibition, Iveta Gabaliņa.

Kristīne Krauze-Slucka (1979) is a Latvian visual artist. In her practice, she studies the relationship between man, technology and nature, paying attention to the processes of adaptation and hybridization, often focusing on the materiality aspects of the chosen media. Kristīne Krauze-Slucka has obtained a Fine Art Master's degree from the Visual Communication Department of the Latvian Academy of Arts. In 2020, she received a scholarship from the foundation of the painter Valdemārs Tone and the Nordic and Baltic Young Artist Award. Kristīne Krauze-Slucka has received the special prize from the Riga Photography Biennale - NEXT 2021 and, in cooperation with the Lithuanian publishing house NoRoutine Books, in 2021 she published her first photography book Vibrations of the Material Universe. Thirst for Gold. The work seeks to shed light on an otherwise invisible threat to the biosphere, contributed from analogue photographic image-making, where the artist slowly creates a layer of water on a light-sensitive photographic paper and carefully injects the photo chemicals into it.
