We are happy to announce the third edition of the SELF PUBLISH RIGA photobook dummy contest! Send us your dummy by 30 April, and take part in one of the central events of Riga Photomonth 2018.

AWARDS

Exciting news – this year we have teamed up with Kaunas Photography GalleryPrinting house KOPA and Antalis LT &Antalis LV to publish the winning dummy! Kaunas Photography Gallery will take over the costs of distribution, materials and marketing, whilst printing house KOPA will take over the costs of printing and binding services and Antalis will provide the paper.

Additionally, the author of the best dummy from the Baltic states (Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia) will be awarded a free place at the International Summer School of Photography 2018 at workshop of their choice.

A shortlist of the submitted dummies will be a part of the SELF PUBLISH RIGA exhibition taking place at the ISSP Gallery in Riga from May 10 to June 3 2018. The winners will be announced on May 10. The Top 10 dummies will receive a special online feature and will be promoted by our media partners FK and YET Magazine.

Tom Mrazauskas - photobook designer and publisher, Brave Books, in between Latvia and Germany,
Evita Goze - photographer, writer and curator of SELF PUBLISH RIGA.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The photobook dummy must be classified as a dummy book. This can either be a scrapbook dummy, or a self-published book with an edition size of under 50. Books with a registration number (ISBN) are not considered dummies and will not make it to the shortlist. Please send the physical dummy, e-photobooks will not be accepted. By submitting your photobook dummy you agree to the SELF PUBLISH RIGA terms and conditions.

SUBMISSION & DEADLINES

Please fill in the Application form and submit it electronically by April 30 (submission deadline). There is no limit to the number of entries per person, but each dummy must be submitted as a separate application. 

Please also print the form out and send it together with your dummy. All dummies must arrive at the ISSP office by May 5 (delivery deadline). If your book is not shortlisted for the Top 10 and you would like it to be returned, the shipping costs are the authors' responsibility - we will contact you after the event.

SUBMISSION FEE

The submission fee per dummy is 10 EUR, which covers some part of the administrative expenses of the contest. The fee must be paid via Paypal account (credit cards can also be used) before submitting the application form. To avoid misunderstandings, please enter the exact name of the author when paying the charges.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

By submitting your work you grant us permission to exhibit your dummy photobook during SELF PUBLISH RIGA 2018 and to use it for promotional and educational purposes.

By accepting the terms and conditions the participant states that the submitted work has never been published by a publishing house. The participant declares that he/she is the owner of all copyright, usage-, application and other protection rights, or if he/she is not the owner of these rights – that he/she has the permission of the owners of these rights and is able to use them without a time or spatial limit and is able to transfer them.

In the case of winning the First Prize your dummy will be produced and published by Kaunas Photography Gallery and produced by printing house KOPA in cooperation with Anatalis LT & Antalis LV

The publisher shall hold the exclusive worldwide rights on the production and sale of the first trade edition, as well as the right to allow third parties to produce licensed editions within two years of publication of the book. The publisher reserves the right – in close consultation with the author – to make changes to the size and additional features of the publisher’s dummy to optimize production, if necessary.

The publisher shall bear the costs of production, sale and advertising. In return, all the income from the book sales will be kept by the publisher. The photographer will receive 100 copies of the book.
