The ISSP 2007 Catalogue has been released!

The ISSP 2007 Catalogue is a collection of 15 photo-series created by the ISSP students for the final exhibition in August 2007. An independent jury: art historian and curator Inese Baranovska, photographer Alnis Stakle and painter Andris Eglitis was engaged in the production of the catalogue by selecting three brightest photo-series from each of the 5 thematic workshops. The publication is a documentary of the creative results of the ISSP. It also provides a summary insight into artistic explorations of new authors, at the same time reflecting the current tendencies in young contemporary photography.

We thank all of the ISSP 2007 students, teachers, and all those involved in producing this beautiful material!

“The works of many International Summer School of Photography students confirm the transforming nature of the learning process at ISSP, making it one of the most important events for current Latvian photography.” - Alnis Stakle, photographer, member of the Catalogue Jury

“Whatever the criteria for selection, this catalogue is without doubt full of good photographs. But this is not what is most important, for a successful photo can be made by anyone. To my mind, what really matters in a summer school of this kind, where so many different and powerful personalities meet, is an opportunity for each photographer to understand a little more clearly what exactly is his/her message… or at least to reflect on what is really important and interesting. This is the most important experience, and it stays behind the camera.” - Andris Eglitis, painter, member of the Catalogue Jury

A limited number of copies will be available for purchase at Galerija Istaba, Riga, Kr.Barona iela 31a.
