Riga Photography Biennial & ISSP Gallery prize shortlist announced
The Riga Photography Biennial and ISSP Gallery announces 15 nominees for Seeking the Latest in Photography! Award 2019! Congratulations to Georgs Avetisjans (LV), Jurgis Gecys (LT), Veronika Gorbačova (LV), Annemarija Gulbe (LV), Aksel Haagensen (EE), Hedi Jaansoo (EE), Paula Jansone (LV), Mari-Leen Kiipli (EE), Kotryna Ula Kiliulyte (LT), Vytautas Kumza (LT), Eliis Laul (EE), Reinis Lismanis (LV), Annija Muižule (LV), Zanda Puče (LV), Aap Tepper (EE).
The award winner will be announced on November 15 and will be offered a solo exhibition during the Riga Photography Biennial’s Off-year programme in April 2019 at the ISSP Gallery (Berga Bazārs, Riga). Several other prizes will also be awarded, including the possibility for up to 10 applicants to participate in the portfolio review of Riga Photography Biennial’s Off-year programme in 2019 free of charge. Gytis Skudžinskas un Vilma Samulionyte (LT), founders of NoRoutine Books, will select one of the participants for their own award – an opportunity to publish a photo book.
Finalists will be selected by an international jury: Paul Paper (LT), artist and curator; Daiga Rudzāte (LV), editor-in-chief of ‘Arterritory’ culture portal and director of INDIE culture project agency; Mitch Speed (CA/DE), artist and art critic; Michael Biedowicz (DE), photo editor and owner of Pavlov’s Dog Gallery; Jonatan Habib Engqvist (SE), curator; Sten Ojave (EE), curator at Center For Contemporary Arts, Estonia; Amelie Schule (DE), ‘Unseen’ exhibition manager; Diāna Tamane (LV), artist and RPB Award 2018 winner; Iveta Gabaliņa, programme director of the ISSP Gallery.
Dear all, for your information, the International Summer School of Photography will this year take place in Kuldiga on 4-12 August 2012. We are in process of putting together the programme. Applications will be announced as usual around end of March - stay tuned & check this site a little later.
The participants of the new project "Middle Town: Picturing the Unspectacular" have been confirmed. The selected photographers are: Diāna Tamane, Iveta Vaivode, Ieva Epnere and Artis Silenieks from Latvia, Muge Yilmaz, Volkan Kiziltunc, Yigit Tanel Kacar and Zeynep Beler from Turkey, Nico Baumgarten from Germany, Michela Palermo from Italy, Karolina Wojtasik from Poland and Andris Feldmanis from Estonia. Dear friends, we are glad to announce an open call for applications for a new project that we will be implementing with our Turkish partners and Dutch agency Paradox in 2012! The project Middle Town: Picturing the Unspectacular will involve 12 photographers from Latvia, Turkey and other EU/neighboring countries and offer two workshops, in Turkey and in Latvia (ISSP). Applications open till 15 January 2012.

Dear friends, our yearly happening is approaching - the opening of the ISSP Exhibition in Riga!
Traditionally, a selection of ISSP final works will be exhibited at Goethe Institute. The Opening event is on Thursday, 20 October at 18:30. We will also be presenting the ISSP 2011 catalogue and releasing a short ISSP 2011 documentary by Ģirts Raģelis. All the ISSP students, friends and family are welcome!
