Norises vieta: ISSP Galerija (Berga Bazārs, Marijas iela 13, k-3)

ISSP is happy to host an artist talk by ISSP Riga Residency artist Josefina Malmegård on Wednesday 26th of September 6:30PM.
The artist is currently developing new work as a part of the ISSP Riga Residency programme. The public presentation will introduce the photographer's former and current projects, encouraging a discussion about the topics represented in her work as well as her individual approach to photography and working methods.
Josefina Malmegård is a Swedish artist with a background in film studies and works primarily with video, installation and photography. She holds a Master degree in Fine Arts at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. The artist's works investigate psychological landscapes withing the social structures of public and private spaces. Through video installations Malmegård aims to access a breaking point in which the viewer and the work may come together dissolving fantasies and one's own reality. Her videos, often presented as loops, play with film conventions. The videos are stories which do not need a climax or lead anywhere, the beginning may be the same as the end; an unresolved mystery in The X-files. This year the artist has documented different kinds of roads. She is interested in the relationship between architecture, path-systems in our bodies and processes in nature. Malmegård sees these as communication lines between our world and the spiritual.
Free entrance, the event will take place in English
Location: ISSP Gallery (Berga Bazārs, Marijas iela 13, k-3)
