Flâneur Riga residency works

Jonas Feige

Inspired by the idea of flâneurism - seemingly aimless wanderings around the city - the Flâneur residency was designed for photography artists interested in developing work in and around urban space. The two artists selected for the programme - Alex F. Webb (UK) and Jonas Feige (DE) spent a month in Riga exploring the subject of contemporary city dwelling. Concluding the residency period Webb and Feige presented the work created during their stay in an unique installation, created in collaboration with the creative collective Orbita.

The Flâneur residency in Riga took place in April - May 2016 in the framework of the Flâneur: New urban narratives project.

The Cool Couple: atvērtā lekcija Rīgā

Šo trešdien, 11.oktobrī, plkst. 18.30 notiks Kuldīgas Fotogrāfijas rezidences mākslinieku The Cool Couple autorvakars Rīgā, ISSP Skolas telpās, Raiņa bulvārī 31-11.

The Cool Couple ir mākslinieku duets no Itālijas – Nikolo Benetons (Niccolò Benetton, 1986) un Simone Santilli (1987) – kas savos darbos pievērš uzmanību spriedzes punktiem cilvēku ikdienas mijiedarbībā ar attēliem. Mākslinieki izmanto dažādus, brīžiem pārsteidzošus izteiksmes veidus – no laikmetīgās fotogrāfijas līdz meditācijas tehnikām, no elektrostatiskajām salvetēm līdz ķīniešu kavergrupas mūzikas ierakstiem.

Dust and Gold

Happy to present the work created by artist Vika Eksta during her residency at Townhouse Gallery, Cairo, September - October 2016, as part of the project Alternative Storytelling.

Vika's video piece speaks about past and contemporary ways of archiving, also including conversations with people engaged in the practice. For the artist this was also her first personal encounter with Egypt – a country with a rich history and a complicated present.
