The participants of the ISSP International Masterclass - 22 artists and photographers from 15 countries - spent a year working on their personal projects under the guidance of experienced mentors. The work was created under two thematic lines - "A Sense of Change", exploring how changes in the physical, political or psychological landscape can be represented in contemporary photographic practice, and "Answering Questions and Questioning Answers", an experimental class centered on ideas and translating them into visual language. During the year, three mentorship meetings were held in Kuldīga and Favara (Sicily). To conclude the final session in Kuldīga, the photographic series, video works, book dummies, clay objects and other items created during the year are being presented for the first time.

Andrei Polikanov on ISSP

Andrei Polikanov on ISSP (26 August 2010):

The terrific and dangerously fruitful mixture of talent and youth, creativity and professionalism, responsibility and integrity, curiosity and persistence, joy and freedom- makes the ISSP summer school truly unforgettable. I miss it a lot!

Ville Lenkkeri on ISSP

Ville Lenkkeri on ISSP (24 August 2010):

Enthusiasm, energy and creative craziness seldom materialize in such progressive and altruistic form as in case of ISSP. It is the way of working of the organizers as well as the surroundings that they have chosen that set the atmosphere of the summer school. And the atmosphere is one of joyful creation; brotherhood of attempt, sisterhood of success.

ISSP Applications open (but for Safaris)

Hey hey! We are pleased to announce that the applications for the International Summer School of Photography 2010 are officially open. The deadline for applications is 10 May 2010. We will accept 60 students in total this year.

One small note! - our newly introduced on-line Application form still refuses to make friends with Safari browser, so problems with uploading photos there. And of course, we are looking forward to seeing your applications!
And please, spread the news :)
