International Summer School of Photography 2018
After a year-long creative break, the International Summer School of Photography (ISSP) is back with some fresh shifts in the programme! Alongside four workshops with some of the cutting edge voices in contemporary photography, we are very pleased to introduce our first ever workshop for PHOTOGRAPHY CURATORS as well as the ISSP RESIDENCY - an opportunity for individuals to work on their projects at their own pace using all the input the ISSP Campus can provide. We are excited to be back ……
ISSP 2018 took place from 28 July – 5 August 2018, featuring workshops by Jason Fulford, Lisa Barnard, Salvatore Vitale & Protick Sarker, Yumi Goto & Jan Rosseel, Natasha Christia, as well as a new on-campus ISSP Residency.
The complete collection of ISSP 2011 final works with a new soundtrack, specially selected for this purpose by djSnobo, is now online!
Dear friends, our yearly happening is approaching - the opening of the ISSP Exhibition in Riga!
Traditionally, a selection of ISSP final works will be exhibited at Goethe Institute. The Opening event is on Thursday, 20 October at 18:30. We will also be presenting the ISSP 2011 catalogue and releasing a short ISSP 2011 documentary by Ģirts Raģelis. All the ISSP students, friends and family are welcome!
David Bate on ISSP (28 September 2011):
ISSP 2011 was a great experience for me, as I am sure for everyone else who did it. I was amazed at the energy of the event... This is no doubt a 'hothouse environment' which enables passion to turn into production, and production into a critical dialogue and thinking with those who also love photography. Beautifully organized, wonderful location, light and sounds, a real summer treat.
Marcos Lopez on ISSP (13 September 2011):
Arno Rafael Minkkinen on ISSP (7 September 2011):
To answer the famous question one gets later in life - where and with whom did you study - I can’t imagine ISSP students not reflecting back instantly on this amazing time of magical learning, creative abandon, intrepid risk taking - and moonlight dancing - not to mention the endless waterfalls and epiphanies of Kuldiga, the perfect location for it all. I know I would. Com’on, I was a student too!
Claudine Doury on ISSP (2 September 2011):
ISSP is unique, its not surprising that participants apply from all over the world. One week of non-stop creativity in the middle of the forest. All made possible because of the incredible energy of the ISSP team. Special thanks to my students, it was an amazingly talented and lovely group.
