ISSP 2016 participation fees, costs and subsidies

The ISSP is a non-commercial event, aimed to promote the development of emerging photographers in Latvia and broader Eastern Europe region. The fees are kept as low as possible to allow the most talented participants to take part.

1. Full participation fee - 600 EUR
ISSP participation fee includes campus accommodation and full board (3 meals a day) for 8 days, as well as local transport in Kuldīga.
The participants are responsible for the costs of production and printing of their work, transport to the location (including visa-related costs if necessary) and incidental expenses during the workshop.

2. Subsidised participation fee - 300 EUR
ISSP is offering a limited number of fee subsidies for talented young photographers from the Baltic countries and CIS who for objective reasons cannot afford to pay the full fee. In order to qualify for the fee subsidy you must be under 35 years of age and be a national or permanent resident of one of the following countries: Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Central Asian Republics. Those applying for a subsidy should provide a detailed justification in the application form. The decision on granting of subsidy is taken by ISSP.

3. Flâneur subsidy - The Inhabited Image
The workshop The Inhabited Image by Federico Clavarino is taking place within the EU project "Flâneur - New Urban Narratives"; the participants of this workshop with EU nationality are entitled to a reduced participation fee of 200 EUR (see more information in Masters & workshops).

Selection of participants

ISSP has a limited number of places - we can host up to 72 participants (12 per workshop). The participants are selected based on their applications and submitted portfolios. The main selection criteria are the quality of work and motivation.

The evaluation of applications is performed by a panel of external experts:
- Louise Clemens (director of Format Festival, UK)
- Salvatore Vitale and Paola Paleari (editors of YET Magazine, CH)
- Ann-Christin Bertrand (curator, C/O Berlin, DE)
- Anastasiia Fedorova (editor, The Calvert Journal, UK)

The final decision on admissions and workshop allocation is taken by ISSP. When admitted, you will be offered a place at a specific workshop, based on the priorities expressed in the application. The workshop allocation is performed taking into account the quality of applications as well as basic group dynamics factors.

Cancellations

In the unlikely case of cancellation of a workshop, the participants will be offered a place in a different workshop or fully reimbursed the advance payments. In case the participants cancel participation from their side, neither advance nor paid participation fee is returned.
